McConnel Adds Midsize Remote-Controlled RC40 Fine-Turf Mower To ROBOCUT Lineup
McConnel’s ROBOCUT range of remote-controlled mowers is another model strong with the recent addition of the 40-horsepower (30-kilowatt) ROBOCUT2 RC40. The fine-turf mower joins the RC28, RC56, and RC75 models ranging from 28 to 75 rated horsepower (21 to 56 kilowatts). The midsize RC40 is designed especially for work on rough terrain, and a low centre of gravity and rubber tracks help it work on slopes of up to 55 degrees. McConnel says the RC40 is up to 25 times more productive than manual mowing, and more fuel-efficient than a three-man strimming team.
Joystick Control
Operators control the RC40 via a Hetronic handheld remote control unit with 150-metre (492-foot) coverage support. Two joysticks control motion, steering, and attachment control, and push-button controls enable gearing, rotor speed, speed sensitivity, radiator self-cleaning, and emergency stop functions. The mower’s frame features twin rollover protection bars and fully enclosed all-metal body panels that block dust and debris from entering.
The RC40’s power comes from a three-cylinder Yanmar diesel engine that meets EU Stage V emissions regulations with no need of an AdBlue system, McConnel says. A two-speed Hydrostatic drive supports up to 4-km/h (2.5-mph) speeds in range one and up to 7 km/h (4.3 mph) in range two. Like other ROBOCUT models, the RC40 works with a wide variety of ROBOCUT cutting attachments and remote control accessories. Attachments include 1.3- and 1.6-metre (4.3- and 5.2-foot) grass and mulch flail heads, a stump grinder, a chipper, a loader and bucket, a snowblower, and other options. Track choices include standard-rubber, super-rubber, studded, and spiked options.
